If you consider local history as well as overnight accommodation when choosing a hotel destination, the cemetery and a cross on the boundary between Jeżewo and Taszewskie Pole offer two distinct points of interest. The cemetery represents a history of burial shaped by religious affiliation, while the cross marks a former chapel site. The timeline spans the 19th-century cemetery, the chapel site that existed before the Second World War, and the cross erected in 1993.

Cemetery and religious history

The cemetery in Taszewskie Pole dates from the 19th century. A municipal description from 2019 gives its area as 0.16 hectares and lists 81 surviving graves. The area is equivalent to 1,600 square metres; the number of graves reflects the situation at the time of that description.

Evangelical and Lutheran residents of the Jeżewo municipality were also buried in the cemetery. A Polish-German memorial plaque recalls that the Evangelical cemetery of the Jeżewo municipality was located there until 1945. The information distinguishes two aspects: the burial history refers to Evangelical and Lutheran residents, while the plaque commemorates the former Evangelical cemetery until 1945.

A cross at the boundary point

A cross erected by priest Jerzy Borysiak in 1993 stands on the boundary between Jeżewo and Taszewskie Pole. It is located on the site of a chapel that stood there before the Second World War. Two points in time should therefore be distinguished: the former chapel and the cross erected in 1993. The points of interest are also in separate locations: the memorial plaque is in the cemetery, while the cross is at the boundary point.

More places to explore in the municipality

A municipal notice dated 15 June 2020 mentions a shelter with a table and benches at the playground in Taszewskie Pole; the area beneath it is paved. If you plan to include the site in your itinerary, check access and its current condition beforehand.
