A specific local landmark is the surviving remnant of the manor park. It lies in the central part of the village, east of the road connecting Borki with Jadów. The grounds are largely level and slope gently eastwards towards a stream flowing from south to north. Two ponds remain in the eastern part; a lime-tree entrance avenue lies to the west. A monumental red-granite cross stands near the avenue. The terrain, watercourse and different locations of the ponds and avenue give the park remnant a clearly defined spatial structure.

The tree population is also varied and dominated by deciduous trees, including lime trees, ash trees, maples, black alders and black locusts. Nine mature spruces represent the conifers. Lilacs and snowberries are the most common ornamental shrubs.

Landscape and activities in the Jadów municipality

The Jadów municipality lies along the Liwiec and Osownica rivers. Around 28.7 percent of its area is covered by pine forests. The Liwiec valley includes alder-ash riparian forests and willow riparian forests. The Liwiec forms the municipality’s natural eastern boundary and is associated with the Ostoja Nadliwiecka habitat protection area and the Dolina Liwca bird protection area. The Dolina Liwca area was established primarily to protect 19 bird species listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive.

The Śliże Protected Landscape Area comprises two bodies of water separated by a dam; together, the water bodies and dam cover 9.94 hectares. If you would also like to include cycling in your travel plans, consider the blue “East–West Trail” cycle route. It passes through Jadów, runs close to local ponds and the Śliże Protected Landscape Area, and then continues through fields and forests known for mushrooms. As route conditions can change, check them before setting out. The Liwiec is also promoted as a kayaking attraction in the Jadów area.

Culture in Jadów

In 2013, the church in Jadów was elevated to the rank of a Sanctuary of the Holy Cross. The sanctuary holds authentic relics of the Cross. Alongside the park remnant in Borki, this provides a clearly identified religious cultural landmark in the Jadów municipality to help you explore the destination. When looking for a hotel in Borki, you can take the local manor park remnant as your main point of interest and consider the municipality’s nature and culture as complementary themes.
