Skrzyszów combines religious architecture and historical connections with the Żelazny Szlak Rowerowy, as well as sports and leisure facilities at specific locations. When planning a stay, you can use these themes to decide whether churches and local history, cycling or sports facilities are your priority.

Religious Buildings and Local History

The roadside chapel at 120 1 Maja Street in Skrzyszów is listed in the register of monuments and classified as Roman Catholic religious architecture. The parish church is a distinct focal point of local history: the brick church was built between 1933 and 1936 and is dedicated to St Michael the Archangel. It played an important role in the life of Skrzyszów.

The parish church contains a boat-shaped pulpit carved by Konarzewski and a Renaissance altar of St Lawrence dating from 1600. The altar therefore comes from a significantly earlier period than the church building. The furnishings offer a clear contrast in time between the year of the altar and the period when the church was built.

The chapel with the statue of St John of Nepomuk also tells of changes in the area: it was moved to a new location near the church and blessed there. The statue dates from 1854 and has been restored; the new chapel resembles the previous one. Here, the preservation of the historic statue and the change in the chapel’s location can be considered as two distinct aspects of local history.

Another historical connection is Głębocz. In 1683, part of Sobieski’s relief army passed through there on its way to relieve Vienna. This event connects the area with a specific year and historical episode. Głębocz thus adds a different perspective on the history of the area alongside its religious buildings.

Cycling on the Żelazny Szlak Rowerowy

A description published in 2025 calls the Żelazny Szlak Rowerowy a 54-kilometre circular route that passes through Skrzyszów; the town lies on the route at kilometre 8. This provides both a figure for the route’s total length and a specific marker for the town’s location on the circuit. Much of the Żelazny Szlak Rowerowy runs along former railway lines.

A general route assessment from 2025 rates it as easy to ride and suitable for less experienced cyclists and children. This assessment applies to the circuit as a whole. As local route conditions may change, check the current situation before setting out.

Sports and Leisure Facilities

There is a playground and an outdoor fitness area, established in 2014, at the Skrzyszów Cultural Centre. The sports facilities of LKS Gwiazdy Skrzyszów are located at the school in Skrzyszów. They include a multi-purpose court with a polyurethane surface, a grass football pitch and a long-jump runway. The cultural centre and school are therefore separate facility areas.

If you are planning to use a specific sports facility at the school, check access in advance. The facilities differ not only in location but also in purpose: the playground and outdoor fitness area are at the cultural centre, while the sports areas and runway are at the school.
