Łąka is a medieval village first mentioned in written records in 1394. Several distinct features can help you choose it as a destination: a historic manor house complex, cycling routes through the village, a multi-purpose sports field and the Łąki Skoszewskie Natura 2000 Bird Sanctuary to the west.

Manor House and Preserved Village History

In the northern part of Łąka lies a former manor house complex, listed in the register of immovable cultural heritage of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. North of the manor house is a small park with dense, mature tree cover and oak trees. Its original boundaries are still visible; it is the only fully preserved element of the original spatial layout. A barn remains from the historic farm buildings. The park and barn illustrate two different aspects of the manor house complex: the park as a spatial layout and a surviving part of the historic farm buildings.

Wet Meadows and Bird Sanctuary

West of Łąka lies the Łąki Skoszewskie Natura 2000 Bird Sanctuary, with extensive marshy meadows on the eastern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon. The entire Łąka sołectwo (village administrative unit) is also within the bird sanctuary. The wet meadows are west of the village, while the protected area covers the entire sołectwo. Municipal biodiversity information from 2010 and 2015 lists at least 33 bird species from Annex I of the Birds Directive and eight species from the Polish Red List for the area.

Cycling Routes Through Łąka

Two cycling routes pass through Łąka. The red “Stepnicki” cycle route is over 40 kilometres long. The international R-66 “Around the Szczecin Lagoon” cycling route also passes through the village; it was laid out and signposted by the PTTK on behalf of the Stepnica municipality. For the Stepnicki route, its length is the key concrete point of comparison; for the R-66, it is the international connection to the lagoon. Before riding the R-66, check the current signposting and route conditions.

Sports Field and Road Directions

Łąka has a multi-purpose sports field with a synthetic polyurethane surface. It measures 36.57 × 22.00 metres and covers 804.5 square metres. In a municipal notice dated 4 June 2025, the sports field was listed among the most frequently used sports facilities in the municipality.

Łąka lies on the county road from Stepnica via Recław to Wolin. The county road branches off provincial road 112 between Stepnica and Goleniów. The sequence of places gives you an indication of the road connection; Stepnica also appears as the commissioning party for the construction and signposting of the R-66.

You can distinguish the destination’s features by scale and theme: the former manor house complex brings together historic features within Łąka, while the bird sanctuary broadens the focus to the wet meadows by the lagoon. For the cycling routes, the Stepnicki’s length and the R-66’s international connection to the lagoon offer different points of comparison. The sports field, by contrast, is a clearly measured facility. This allows you to weigh village history, landscape and cycling as separate areas of interest.
