Dźwirzyno combines a broad, sandy coastal beach with dunes and pine forest, an ecological protected area, and opportunities to enjoy the water. When choosing your accommodation, you can consider whether the beach landscape, sea views or water sports should be the main focus. A beach viewing terrace, a marina on Lake Resko and a fishing and tourism harbor reflect different sides of the destination. Protected oaks and a historic building add local nature and cultural attractions.

Beach, views and protected nature

Dźwirzyno’s broad, sandy coastal beach lies several kilometers west of Kołobrzeg and is bordered inland by dunes with pine forest. A modern viewing terrace on the beach offers views of the Baltic Sea and sunsets. It serves as a destination for a stroll and a stopping point for cyclists. From the terrace, you can enjoy sea views without going down onto the beach itself. This means you can consider the beach and the viewpoint as two different ways to take in the coast.

Another natural highlight lies in the northeast of Dźwirzyno: the Bór wrzoścowy ecological protected area encompasses an approximately two-hectare coastal swamp forest habitat in a shallow dune hollow. This habitat is unique along the Polish coast and is associated with coastal crowberry pine forests. Behind the “Havet” and “Geovita” hotels is also the “Patelnia” moving dune, which shifts about two meters northeast each year. The dune hollow with its swamp forest and the shifting dune showcase two different types of landscape in the area.

There is also protected nature within the built-up area: a group of 16 pedunculate oaks on Wyzwolenia Street is protected as a natural monument. Their trunk circumferences range from 125 to 250 centimeters. So, if you are comparing nature attractions, you can see everything from coastal swamp forest to protected trees in the town.

Marina, harbor and water sports

The Błękitna Marina on Lake Resko in Dźwirzyno offers opportunities for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, and is considered one of the most modern facilities in Pomerania. The former fishing harbor is now a fishing and tourism harbor. It is suitable for coastal sailing, fishing trips and trips out to sea in small boats. The marina and the harbor thus represent different water activities: water sports on Lake Resko on the one hand, and sailing and excursions in small boats on the other.

The Water Tourism and Recreation Center rents out SUP boards, kayaks, pedal boats and small sailboats of the Optymist, Eikplast and Omega types during the summer season. Rentals are seasonal. If you are planning to use specific equipment during your trip, check its availability in advance.

A historic landmark

The former Elisabeth Seehospitz, now “Bałtyk,” is one of the oldest of the 22 buildings in Dźwirzyno that are protected as historic monuments. This specific historic building complements the destination’s nature and water sports attractions.
