Brusno: Manor Estate History in Drawski Landscape Park
Accommodation in Brusno
Brusno combines the history of a manor estate with its location within Drawski Landscape Park. This offers two different perspectives to consider when planning your trip: the development of the estate complex and the landscape of the area. In addition, a tourist driving route places Brusno on a longer circular itinerary.
Manor Estate, Manor House and Historical Traces
Since the 18th century, the estate in Brusno included a manor house, a garden and a complex of agricultural buildings. In 1811, the manor house was either remodelled or rebuilt on older foundations and vaulted cellars. This leaves two possibilities for its architectural history: an alteration to the existing house or a new building incorporating older foundations and cellars. In either case, 1811 marks an important structural turning point; the older fabric is explicitly part of the second possibility.
The estate park was expanded in the 19th century. Brusno's manor park is listed in the register of monuments of Drawski Landscape Park under registration number 1052. There is also a historic landmark north of the estate complex: a cemetery was established there in the 19th century. Thus, Brusno's history includes both the estate complex and a cemetery located to its north.
A specific point of reference at the estate is the paved road between Ogartowo and Kocury, which passes through the complex. The area's history therefore includes not only information about buildings and the park, but also a named road connection running through the estate.
Landscape in Drawski Landscape Park
Brusno lies within Drawski Landscape Park. This landscape designation should be distinguished from the estate's manor park: the manor park is part of the estate's history, while Drawski Landscape Park defines the location of the area. There are also two named bodies of water. The Karsina stream shapes the landscape of Brusno; the Bliska Struga river does so in part. Thus, the two bodies of water are not described as shaping the landscape to the same extent.
A report dated 24 September 2020 records that, during a visit to Brusno, pupils saw, among other things, a tree-lined avenue designated as a natural monument. This historical reference adds a specific natural feature of the area to the waterways and its location in the landscape park.
Brusno on the Driving Route
Brusno lies on a 68-kilometre tourist driving route. The route runs from Połczyn-Zdrój via Ogartowo, Popielewo, Brusno, Kocury, Czarne Wielkie, Czaplinek, Stare Drawsko and Kłuczewo, and then back to Połczyn-Zdrój. In the sequence described, Brusno lies between Popielewo and Kocury. The route provides a wider regional context, while the road between Ogartowo and Kocury passes through the estate complex. If you plan to drive the route, check the current route and signage in advance.
If you are looking for a hotel in Brusno, these features can help you understand the destination: the estate complex represents its historical perspective, while the waterways and Drawski Landscape Park reflect its landscape setting. The driving route adds a longer circular itinerary to the area's profile.
