Tapalqué combines thermal attractions with paths along the Arroyo, festivals with a regional character, and insights into local history. When looking for a hotel, it helps to decide what you want to focus on for your trip first: Are pools and landscaped green spaces important, is outdoor activity your priority, or would you mainly like to discover the local culture and events?

Thermal Waters and Getting There

Termas Tapalqué is set on a 17-hectare site in a wooded, park-like setting. The complex includes thermal-water pools, as well as an uncovered children's area with freshwater pools and water games. This means the Termas offer both thermal waters and a dedicated area with freshwater and water games. If you would like to include these attractions in your travel plans, Ruta Provincial N 51 is relevant for getting there: it provides access to the Termas for vehicles of all kinds for most of the year. Check the access route before setting out, and take the stated timing caveat into account when planning your trip.

Paths and Activities Along the Arroyo

The Costanera del arroyo Tapalqué is a path more than ten kilometres long, lined with large trees. Activities available along the Costanera include fishing, cycling, swimming, walking, kayaking and running. This brings together a range of outdoor activities and a long, tree-lined path along the Arroyo. The Balneario Municipal de Tapalqué and its surroundings also have paths for walking and enjoying nature. The Costanera and the paths near the Balneario are two specific options for anyone planning to spend time outdoors. The Camping Municipal is right beside the Arroyo Tapalqué, making it another named point of reference by the water.

Festivals with Distinctive Culinary Focuses

For more than ten years, Tapalqué has held the “Fiesta de la Torta Negra” in January. Visitors can sample a giant Torta Negra and bake their own cakes in clay ovens using the original recipe. Sampling and taking part go hand in hand at this festival: the speciality is both tasted and prepared by visitors themselves. The “Fiesta del Cantón Tapalqué” has a different culinary focus, showcasing rural gastronomy. At large fire pits, a whole skinned beef carcass, as well as lambs and suckling pigs, are cooked. The two festivals are therefore quite distinct: the Fiesta de la Torta Negra focuses on the pastry and baking in clay ovens, while the Fiesta del Cantón focuses on food cooked over the fire pits.

Museum, Guided Tours and Fishing

The Museo y Conservatorio Municipal de Tapalqué preserves the town's historical and cultural memory. Its galleries include “Pueblos Originarios,” “Cantón Tapalqué,” “Gaucho y la Tradición” and “Pasos de Mujeres.” The four names offer a glimpse of the different subjects covered by the museum. In addition, guided tours of cultural and social landmarks in Tapalqué are offered by tourist guides. If you would like to give your stay a cultural focus, you can consider these tours as a separate option alongside a museum visit.

Fishing is also linked to a named event: the “A La Carpa De Mayor Peso” tournament, organised by the Club de Pesca y Lanzamiento Tapalqué, held its 16th edition in January 2025. The Costanera also offers opportunities for fishing. This means Tapalqué's events calendar includes both a specific outdoor fishing attraction and a tournament with a stated date in its history.

Choose a Focus for Your Hotel Search

When searching for a hotel, consider which side of Tapalqué matters most for your trip: thermal pools and park-like surroundings, activities and nature along the Arroyo, or cultural and culinary experiences. This lets you match your search to your preferred itinerary without reducing the different attractions to a single focus. Decide which of these options you are most likely to include, and make your choice accordingly.
