Möljeryd lies on the edge of the Bredåkra Delta, east of the Ronnebyån, in a hilly landscape with many lakes and waterways. The area has long been associated with outdoor activities. To get your bearings, it is worth considering the different natural and recreational features: Storemosse lies south of Möljeryd, Sänneshult is nearby, and the Mållsjön bathing area is right in the village. This means you can choose between bogs and birdlife, hiking opportunities, and bathing spots as distinct highlights.

Bogland and birdlife

Storemosse lies south of Möljeryd and is one of Blekinge’s largest bog areas. The nature reserve includes wooded and open areas, the small bog lake Mossegölen, and two flooded former peat cuttings. It provides habitats for several species that are on the Red List or are otherwise rare, and has a rich birdlife. The bog, water and birdlife give the area a variety of natural features. Storemosse is therefore of particular interest to travellers interested in bog landscapes or birds.

Nature reserves and hiking trails

The Sänneshult Nature Reserve lies between Lakes Sännen and Listersjön and can be reached via the road between Tving and Möljeryd. The Blekingeleden trail passes through the reserve, and the area around the two lakes is also popular for hiking. The trail’s route through the reserve and the hiking area around the lakes provide different points of reference for hikers.

Another hiking trail nearby is Karlsnäsleden. It is 15 km long, runs from the centre of Ronneby to Karlsnäsgården, and follows the valley of the Ronnebyån. Its character combines industrial history and cultural heritage sites with open pastureland and deciduous forest. Features along the trail also include ancient stone walls, the foundations of former crofts, and clearance cairns. The distance and the named endpoints provide practical information for planning a hike; at the same time, the trail offers a cultural-historical and scenic focus. Sänneshult is more closely associated with the nature reserve and lake landscape, while Karlsnäsleden offers a specified distance and cultural-historical features. Clearance cairns are heaps made from stones that have been gathered up; the foundations of former crofts point to small dwellings from the past. These terms therefore refer to specific traces in the landscape along the trail: piled stones and structural remains, not merely general references to cultural history.

Swimming in lakes

Mållsjön is an official inland bathing area in Ronneby Municipality and has a bathing jetty. The bathing area is in Möljeryd, making it the specifically named place for swimming in the village. The Listersjöarna are used both for swimming and for ice skating on natural ice. The waters therefore offer different activities: Mållsjön is described as a bathing area with a jetty, while swimming and skating on natural ice are among the stated uses of the Listersjöarna.
