Enterprise: Art, History and Nature
Accommodation in Enterprise
Enterprise offers several different reasons to visit: outdoor art, local history, recreation and regional products. These themes are not limited to a single landmark. When choosing what to see, you can decide whether an art project, historical collections, a recreational trail or the Farmers Market is the biggest draw for you.
Art and an Annual Festival
Weevil Way is a community art project featuring differently designed statues made of reinforced fiberglass. They stand at several outdoor locations in the Downtown Enterprise area. Visitors are invited to admire and photograph the colorful Boll Weevils. The different designs give you the opportunity to view the figures individually and choose your own photo spots.
The Boll Weevil Fall Festival is an annual tradition in historic downtown Enterprise. If the festival is important to your travel plans, check the latest event dates and program in advance, as both can change.
Monument and Museum
The Boll Weevil Monument is located in historic downtown Enterprise. It was unveiled on December 11, 1919, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The exact unveiling date and its listing on the Register give the monument a clear historical connection.
The Pea River Historical and Genealogical Society Depot Museum is located in the old Enterprise Railroad Depot. Its collection includes antique agricultural equipment, historic clothing, antique furniture and weapons. The original top section of the Boll Weevil statue is also on display. The collection ranges from items used in everyday agricultural life to historic clothing and the statue's top section.
Walking, Trail Running and Regional Products
The Enterprise Recreational Trail is 1.3 miles long. You can go trail running or take a walk along the route; it is also wheelchair accessible. Its length and listed activities offer useful details if you would like to include outdoor exercise in your travel plans. That is about 2.1 kilometers, making it easier to gauge the distance when planning your visit.
The Enterprise Open-Air Farmers Market offers fresh produce, baked goods and handcrafted items directly from local farmers and artisans. Alongside art and historical collections, regional vendors provide another distinct focus to explore. Market hours may change; if you are planning a visit, check the latest information.
Plan Your Museum Visit
The museum recommends calling ahead to make sure it is open and to arrange a tour. This lets you plan around its opening hours and ask whether a tour can be arranged for your visit.
