To decide whether Bohdíkov fits your travel plans, three clearly distinct themes can help: the town’s architectural history, Štola Mařka in the grounds of the abandoned Exler quarry, and the Na Hadci protected area above Raškov. If you’re looking for a hotel in Bohdíkov, these themes can help you decide whether architecture, landscape, or natural history is especially important for your stay.

Landscape and Geology

The Na Hadci protected area covers 56 ha and lies above Raškov. It features relict pine stands on serpentine rock outcrops, surrounded by fir-beech and maple-beech forests. Also protected are communities on serpentine rocks, fragments of pine and beech forests, and characteristic weathering formations. Thus, the area’s significance is not defined by its tree stands alone: the rock and its weathering formations are also among its distinctive natural features. Those who consider nature conservation and geology when choosing a destination will find a tangible connection here between rock, forest, and characteristic landforms.

Architectural History in Bohdíkov

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (“Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla”) is a Baroque building dating from 1725 and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. It is also a striking landmark visible from afar, with a distinctive silhouette: a semicircular end and a square tower. The year of construction and the building’s form convey different aspects: 1725 dates its construction, while its architectural features describe its appearance in concrete terms. The church therefore combines a clear historical context with a recognisable exterior.

The Tvrz – dům č.p. 55, Bohdíkov’s oldest building, represents an earlier period. It preserves a Renaissance core from the second half of the 16th century and was declared a state cultural monument in 2000. The two dates serve different purposes: the second half of the 16th century refers to the Renaissance core, while 2000 marks its designation as a protected monument. This preserved section of the building dates back further than the church of 1725. Comparing the two buildings thus reveals different periods in Bohdíkov’s architectural history.

Štola Mařka and Getting There

Štola Mařka is located in the grounds of the abandoned Exler quarry in Bohdíkov. A 320 m section is accessible from the entrance. It is also the largest hibernation site for rare bat species in the Okres Šumperk district. The length refers to the accessible section, while the regional context describes its importance as a wintering site. Visitor access and natural history go hand in hand here: the tunnel is a specific site in the former quarry grounds and also an important bat hibernation area.

There is also a specific point to note when arriving: access to the Bohdíkov railway station building or railway stop is step-free, including the passenger shelter. You can take this information into account when planning to visit the station area.
