Siepraw lies in the Wieliczka Foothills, by the Sieprawka stream. If you’re looking for hotels for a stay in Siepraw, you can choose where to stay based on the themes that interest you: landscape, outdoor activities, winter sports or local history. Kopytko is a natural landmark, Słoneczny Park is a place to relax, and Siepraw Ski is a winter sports destination; churches and crafts offer further ways to explore the area.

Landscape and Kopytko

Kopytko, a rock outcrop of durable Izdebnia sandstone, lies on the border between Siepraw and Świątniki Górne. It is about 3 m high and 20 m long; it is one of the few rock outcrops in the Wieliczka Foothills. A walking trail leads from Siepraw to the outcrop, connecting it with the village, while its dimensions and rock type characterize Kopytko itself. This offers a way to explore the regional landscape through a specific natural landmark and its geological features.

Trails and outdoor activities

Słoneczny Park was designed as a park and recreational area for outdoor activities. It includes pedestrian bridges over the Sieprawka. The second phase of construction included walking and cycling paths, which opened in 2020. The park thus has paths for two different types of activity. Together with the bridges, they form a landscaped recreational area that can be considered a separate attraction from the Kopytko rock outcrop.

Winter sports in Siepraw

Siepraw Ski has five ski lifts and five ski runs. The runs vary in difficulty and are between 70 and 350 m long. The numbers and features should be considered separately: the five lifts describe the ski complex, while the runs’ length and difficulty provide more detail about the slopes. The complex also has a winter playground for children. Unlike Słoneczny Park, with its walking and cycling paths, Siepraw Ski focuses on lifts and runs; the two attractions thus offer different kinds of outdoor activities.

Churches and local history

The wooden filial Church of St Martin in Siepraw dates from the first half of the 17th century. The parish church is also connected with the village’s history: on 19 March 2004, it was elevated to a sanctuary dedicated to Blessed Aniela Salawa. It was intended to serve as a special place for prayers for her canonization. Four generations of her fellow townspeople worked to spread devotion to Blessed Aniela Salawa; since the sanctuary was established, this has taken place in Siepraw.

The churches bring together different historical associations: St Martin’s is characterized by its wooden construction and the period in which it was built, while the sanctuary is distinguished by its elevation in 2004 and the associated purpose for prayer. Siepraw thus offers both a 17th-century building and a more recent religious development.

Brush- and broom-making as a craft tradition

Siepraw is known for making brushes and brooms. This craft developed during the interwar period as an additional source of income. It adds an economic-history perspective to the area’s nature, leisure and church-related attractions, and offers another way to explore local history.
