When looking for a hotel in Köslin, you can use your own interests to help choose your destination: the city combines historic buildings and cultural attractions with destinations in nature and a variety of leisure activities. This lets you plan your stay around the topics that interest you most, without reducing the city’s history and landscape to a single activity.

Discover the city’s history in different ways

The medieval defensive walls of Koszalin formed a 1,600-metre ring with 46 defensive passages and three gates. The Staromiejska Trasa Turystyczna also takes in historic buildings, passing 28 structures. Information boards and metal markers on the ground show the way. Those interested in brick Gothic architecture can explore the city’s history in another way with the first Koszalińskie Quest. The route passes important historic buildings and traces the history of Koszalin.

The “Poznaj Historię” route offers a different way to explore: special boards with QR codes tell the stories of nine locations along the city’s tourist trail. The Castle Church, called “Kościół zamkowy” in Polish, dates from the 13th or 14th century. Today it is an Orthodox church and is listed in the register of monuments. “Domek Kata” also brings together architectural history and present-day use: the Gothic townhouse from the 15th century has been home to Teatr Propozycji “Dialog” since 1964.

Cultural attractions and events

At Zagroda Jamneńska in northern Koszalin, artefacts associated with Jamneńska culture are on display. The venue offers year-round workshops in ceramics, embroidery, small-scale weaving, polychrome woodwork and block printing on fabric. If you would like to attend a workshop, check booking and programme details in advance, as they may change.

The Astronomical Observatory offers public lectures on Saturdays as well as lectures in regular themed series. Dates may be important when planning a specific visit, so check the current lecture schedule. The Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego Amphitheatre hosts the “Kabareton” cabaret festival every year. If you are planning to visit for the festival, check the current events calendar and dates.

Hiking trails, a high point and protected nature

The blue “Porwanego Księcia” hiking trail is twelve kilometres long. It runs from Koszalin via Sianów to Góra Chełmska and through its woodland. Its length is a useful point of reference when fitting the trail into your day’s plans. Check the route and conditions before setting out. Krzyżanka, at 136.2 metres above sea level, is the highest peak on the Góra Chełmska massif.

Protected areas also form part of Koszalin’s natural landscape. These include the Rezerwat Jezioro Lubiatowskie im. profesora Wojciecha Górskiego nature reserve and the “Wąwozy Grabowe” protected landscape area, designated as a Zespół Przyrodniczo-Krajobrazowy. The two protected areas are distinct nature attractions alongside the hiking trail and summit. Before visiting, check the regulations and access arrangements that apply to each area.

Water activities and other leisure ideas

Wodna Dolina has a city beach with a bathing area supervised during the summer, as well as a swimming equipment rental service. The Wakepark Koszalin is also located there, with a two-tower cable lift, equipment rental and instruction. Seasonal supervision of the bathing area is a separate point to consider when planning your visit; it should not be confused with the wake park’s facilities.

The Park Wodny has six pools, including two outdoor pools, and the 176-metre-long “Anakonda” water slide. As facility information may change, check the details about the park before your visit. If you are interested in a ride in historic railway carriages, you can also consider the Koszalińska Kolej Wąskotorowa: its route runs along the Dzierżęcinka River and Lake Lubiatowskie. Check operating days and the current service before travelling.

For cyclists, there is a free bicycle parking area with 15 bike stands in front of the town hall. Together, these offer a range of themes for a stay in Köslin: historic city routes, cultural venues, protected landscapes and waterside leisure activities.
